PHB 190LC - Clinical Internship in Phlebotomy 1-3 Credits, 5-15 Contact Hours 0 lecture periods 5-15 lab periods
Capstone experience for phlebotomy students. Includes an externship in the field where students practice the skills and knowledge they gain during training, such as single and multi-draw venipuncture, capillary draws, storage and transportation of specimens, testing and processing specimens, legal and ethical behaviors and documentation, and professional conduct.
Prerequisite(s): PHB 160 , PHB 162 , PHB 164 , and PHB 166LB Information: Credit hours will vary depending on length of time needed for student to obtain required experience for certification. If this course is repeated see a financial aid or Veteran’s Affairs advisor to determine funding eligibility as appropriate.

- Apply legal and regulatory standards, implement infection control, and safety techniques (including appropriate use of equipment), in a clinical setting.
- Demonstrate proper phlebotomy draw techniques from preparation to specimen handling, and specify special testing and processing requirements.
