MLA 100 - Heritage and Values of the United States Air Force I 2 Credits, 2 Contact Hours 2 lecture periods 0 lab periods Heritage and Values of the United States Air Force is the first half of a survey course designed to introduce students to the United States Air Force and provides an overview of the basic characteristics, missions, and organization of the Air Force.
Information: United States Air Force Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (AFROTC) Cadets must attend a Leadership seminar on Monday from 5:30 A.M. to 7:30 A.M. Course offered in cooperation with the University of Arizona.
Course Learning Outcomes
- Discuss the concept of officership and the nature of the military profession as it relates to the United States Air Force (USAF) and Air Force Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (AFROTC).
- Describe the fundamental customs and courtesies to be practiced by AFROTC cadets.
- Discuss the various individual behaviors affecting follower maturity.
- Describe how the Air Force is organized to carry out its assigned mission.
- Outline the development of air power through the last century.
- Identify the functions of a Major Command, Numbered Air Force, Wing, Group, and Squadron.
- Describe the structure and function of the base organization.
- Discuss the basic facts about Air Force officer specialties.
- Respond to the basic characteristics of war and the essence of aerospace power to members of the USAF.
