BCT 114 - Blueprint Reading 1 Credits, 1 Contact Hours 1 lecture period 0 lab periods Basic concepts of blueprints. Including terms and symbols, components, measuring tools, line types and symbols, abbreviations, grid lines, plan locations, and dimensions, production techniques, and blueprint reading parts and locations.
Course Learning Outcomes
- Identify basic blueprint terms and symbols.
- List the components of a blueprint and explain specific scales.
- Identify types of measuring tools used to draw and/or measure lines on the blueprint and explain their applications.
- Describe basic line types and symbols used on construction drawings.
- Define standard abbreviations used in blueprint drawings.
- Describe the grid line systems used to identify plan locations and explain the purpose of dimensions used on drawings.
- Describe blueprint production techniques, care of blueprints and specific company procedures.
- Relate information on blueprints to specific parts and locations.
