Emergency Medical Technician Achievement


EMTs are medical professionals who provide emergency care to people who are far away from a hospital or on their way to one. Become an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and apply skills in a rewarding occupation of quick, efficient patient care assisting in life-threatening situations.

Program learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of the program, the learner will be able to:

  1. Appropriately manage scene safety including proper placement and removal of personal protective gear in the workplace.
  2. Define priorities of care and the components of a tiered response system.
  3. Define the role, scope of practice: Legal and ethical responsibilities of the Emergency Medical Technician.
  4. Perform and appropriately manage and stabilize patients of all ages suffering from airway obstructions, respiratory arrests, and cardiac arrests.
  5. Perform and appropriately manage and stabilize patients of all ages suffering from bleeding, soft tissue injuries, burns, fractures, shock, and nervous system injuries.
