Program Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the program, the learner will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate understanding of industry standards and safety practices.
  2. Demonstrate professionalism with attitudes, conduct, ethics, and work practices.
  3. Describe the history of the carpentry trade and the importance of safety in the construction industry.
  4. Explain the terms commonly used in discussing wood and lumber and the different types of fasteners and adhesives.
  5. Demonstrate the proper use of hand, portable power, and stationary power tools.
  6. Describe all the components of project management.
  7. Develop an estimate for a construction job.
  8. Determine the environmental and safety considerations for construction work.
