Program Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the program, the learner will be able to:
- Child Development -To reflect mastery of child development and characteristics of children 0-8 years of age
- Building Family and Community Relationships - To demonstrate knowledge and understanding of family and community characteristics to support and empower families through reciprocal and respectful relationships
- Observing, Documenting, and Assessing to Support Young Children and Families - To explain the goals, benefits, and uses of assessment including observation and documentation and other appropriate strategies
- Using Developmentally Effective Approaches-includes understanding positive relationships and supportive interactions as the foundation of their work with young children; knowing and understanding effective strategies and tools for early education, including appropriate uses of technology; using a broad repertoire of developmentally appropriate teaching/learning approaches. and reflecting on own practice to promote positive outcomes for each child.
- Using Content Knowledge to Build Meaningful Curriculum- includes understanding content knowledge and resources in academic disciplines: language and literacy; the arts, music, creative movements, dance, drama, visual arts; mathematics; science, physical activity, physical education, health and safety; and social studies. Also, knowing and using the central concepts, inquiry tools, and structures of content areas or academic discipline; and using own knowledge, appropriate learning standards, and other resources, – design, implement, and evaluate developmentally meaningful, & challenging curriculum for the child.
- Becoming a Professional - To identify with and become involved with the early childhood field though continuous and collaborative learning to inform practice. To demonstrate the ability to be engaged in informed advocacy for children and the profession.
