CAD 167 - Introduction to GIS for CAD and Logistics 4 Credits, 6 Contact Hours 3 lecture periods 3 lab periods
Introduction to the basic functionality of ArcGIS. Includes data management, data creation, key geoprocessing tools, and elements of cartography. Also includes using GIS for research and planning.
Course Learning Outcomes
- Discuss necessary components of geographic information systems
- Define data types used in GIS
- Develop problem-solving skills when working with different types of data
- Demonstrate an understanding of basic geoprocessing tools and their usage in the ArcGIS environment
- Develop professional looking maps and presentations to support geographic research
- Build and publish ESRI Story maps to the web using maps, photos, and graphics
