UCIS 135 - Operating Systems and Information Security

Skills and abilities required to support software and peripherals, mobile device security, networking security and troubleshooting, and network connectivity issues. Configure operating systems including Windows, iOS, Android, MacOS and Linux. Also includes security and the fundamentals of cloud computing. This course prepares learners for the CompTIA A+ Core 2 exam.

Course Learning Outcomes:
  1. Identify issues with computing devices, including computers, mobile devices, printers, and network devices.
  2. Describe the hardware components of modern computing environments and their role in network infrastructure and cloud computing.
  3. Describe the role and basic functions of an operating system, and how operating systems interact with hardware and software applications.
  4. Identify four critical thinking sub-competencies: gather and assess relevant information, identify patterns, question assumptions, and draw well-reasoned conclusions.
