AIT 123 - Applied Soldering 5 Contact Hours, 3 Credits 2 lecture periods 3 lab periods
Introduction to the practical skills required for industry soldering of various electrical components. Includes evaluation and inspection of assemblies for acceptance/rejection decisions. Also includes topics covered and skills based on The Institute for Interconnecting and Packaging Electronic Circuits (IPC) in their “Requirements for Soldering Electrical and Electronic Assemblies” IPC J-STD-001

- Explain IPC J-STD-001 Professional Policies, Procedures and General Requirements.
- Demonstrate assembly of soldered wires and terminals.
- Demonstrate assembly of soldered plated through hole (PTH) components.
- Demonstrate assembly of soldered surface mount technology (SMT) components.
- Evaluate and inspect assemblies for acceptance/reject decisions.
