UAVM 165 - Part 65 Airframe and Powerplant

This course addresses general aviation information for experienced aircraft mechanics that possess the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) authorization for certification and seek to close the gaps in their knowledge. Students will cover maintenance fundamentals such as FAA regulations, aviation math, aircraft drawings, and basic electricity. Students will also increase their knowledge and hands-on competencies by performing inspections, functional checks, and adjustments on a multitude of airframe and powerplant systems; and will also gain specialized skills in aircraft structural repair.

Course Learning Outcomes:
  1. Demonstrate hands-on general mechanic proficiencies in the area of federal aviation regulations, fluid lines and fittings, materials and processes, aircraft drawings, aviation math, basic physics, weight and balance, and basic electricity.
  2. Demonstrate hands-on airframe mechanic proficiencies in the areas of structural repair, landing gear, hydraulics and pneumatics, fire protection, ice and rain control, cabin atmospheric control, fuel communication and navigation, aircraft instruments, rigging, aircraft electrical, and position and warning systems.
  3. Demonstrate hands-on powerplant mechanic proficiencies on turbine and reciprocating engines, and propellers.
